System Restore zauzima mnogo HDD prostora

Windows XP ima odličnu opciju da snimi sliku sistema kako bi se ovaj, u slučaju nege greške, mogao vratiti na pređašnje stanje u kome je radio bez problema. Iako odlična opcija za početnike i one koji stalno modifikuju sistem, opcija je suvišna profesionalcima i onima koji dobro poznaju windows operativni sistem. Bez obzira na nivo poznavanja sistema, System Restore praktično jede prostor na HDD-u, jer periodično pravi backup systema. To ponekad dovodi do usporenja u radu, a zbog neograničene mogućnosti bekapa i velikog potrošenog mesta na HDD-u. Ukoliko želite da imate koliku toliku sigurnost i ostavite uključen System Restore, ograničite u prostor za bekapovanje. Ovo neće uticati na kvalitet bekapa, već će umesto da pravi i čuva 10 bekapa na sistemu, čuvati samo 2 ili 3 što je i više nego dovoljno. Ovi iskusniji ili oni koji imaju neki drugi vid bekapa sistema (Norton Ghost npr.) mogu i da isključe ovu opciju. System Restore se podešava na sledeći način (Ukoliko želite da isključite System restore pročitajte samo stavke 1 i 2. Ukoliko želite da ograničite prostor koji backup zauzima preskočite stavku 2.):

1. Idite na Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
2. Da bi ga isključili čekirajte opciju "Turn off System Restore on all drives". Kliknite na Apply, pa na OK. Restartujte sistem.
3. Da bi mu ograničili prostor koji će bekap zauzimati, odčekirajte opciju "Turn off System Restore on all drives" ukoliko je čekirana i kliknite na Apply. Ukoliko nije čekirana kliknite na drajv za koji hoćete da podesite System Restore prostor i kliknite na Settings.
4. Neka normalna i pristojna veličina koja je sasvim dovoljna je 500 MB, pa je pomoću slajdera i podesite. Kada ste podesili slajder na odgovarajuću vrednost kliknite na OK.
5. Isti postupak uradite i za druge drajvove ako ih imate (ukoliko imate više particija).
6. Kada ste sve podesili kliknite na Apply pa na OK i restartujte sistem.
