Square's promise: FFXIII to be released in 2008

Promises, promises. They seem to always be said and most of the time broken, especially in the gaming business. Hearts can be broken, and tears might be shed -- especially for you GTA and MGS fans. When a developer drops a release date on our heads, that a big gutsy move, something us gamers don't take too much truth to.

Here comes Square-Enix announcing a 2008 release date for FF13. No date, just the year, which is plenty enough for us eager FF fans. But how much truth is really behind this, because I don't want to have my heart broken or tears run down my face. According to ******* Mr. Testuya Nomura, character designer for FFXIII says that "the long wait for the Fabula Nova Crystallis collection will be over soon enough. Not only does he swear by the game's 2008 release date, he teases at a playable demo for FFXIII on the PlayStation Network a while before the game is released, to show off the game's revamped battle system."

So absolutely no date tied into this announcement, but to tell you the truth a December 31st, 2008 date would be fine by me. Knowing Square-Enix's track record, I would've thought the game would come out Fall 09, but hey that is still very possbile. I'm glad SE made this bold statement but I'm not taking it to heart. A release of a new Final Fantasy game is like a football fan's dream of going to the Superbowl for 60 bucks, front row, mid-field. So a broken promise would be you going to the Superbowl and at the ticket gate you get kicked out because the ticket you received was a fake, and then you spend the whole game underground in the stadium prison. "There's always next year," you say to yourself as you rock back and forth on the cold, metal bed.

Don't think I'll forget this promise, Nomura!

I ja sam se naskidao trejlera k'o blesav ali sta mi vredi kad imam X360. Prokleti bili Square i Microsoft kad se ne slazu. Ako je vec serijal sa Nintenda dosao na PS, sto nebi i na Box? Postoji XI za Xbox360 doduse ali nekako nije to to. Jedino cemu mogu da se radujem je Lost Odyssey - cista kopija FFX i to na 4 DL DVD (evo, opet se vidi prednost BRa). Igru radi isti covek koji radi i FF serijal i deo Square tima koji radi za Microsoft.

A uostalom nije ni Sqaure svemocan.Koliko vidim izdaju trash naslove za 360.
LO i nije nesto, a Blue Dragon je slabo prosao
A od FFXIII na 360 nema nista, jer Sony to ni u ludilo nece dozvoliti

Znam da FFXIII nece biti na 360. A LO zaista nije bas nesto ali je najslicnije FFu sto mogu da imam.

I nije smesno sto cu biti uskracen za FF serijal. To je zalosno.

Od svakog dela koji je izasao presao sam sve sem VIII i IX (i to u vise varijanti, recimo I i II sam presao i na NESu i na GBA remake-u).

Pogledao sam HD review od LO i zaista mi se svidelo to sto sam video. Stvarno, jako odseca na FFX. Cak su i ocene fine:
STORY: 9.6
DESIGN: 8.0
GAMEPLAY: 8.3
PRESENTATION: 9.5
OVERALL: 8.8

Znaci da sam delimicno resen velike patnje na neko vreme (dok se ne domognem nekog PS3 i FFXIII).

Maybe Final Fantasy XIII isn't so far off after all

March 10, 2008 - Fans of Japanese RPGs like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest know the drill: get all hyped up for the Japanese release of the next installment in your favorite series, then watch the hype deflate as you wait additional six to twelve months for a localized version.

But the classic approach to localizing software may be on the way out. Square Enix president Yoichi Wada told Japan's Nihon Keizan Shimbun daily today that from here on out, the company will be "making simultaneous releases the norm."

Of course, the question is if this plan includes upcoming monster hits like Final Fantasy XIII and Dragon Quest IX. Both titles are still without a final release date, suggesting that if past schedules hold, we wouldn't have a chance of getting either until 2009 or beyond.

You can thank the strength of the gaming markets outside of Japan for this sudden shift in policy, which is actually just one area of overseas gaming that's drawing the attention of the suits at the Square Enix headquarters in Tokyo. In addition to simultaneous releases, the company is looking into the possibility of forming development studios outside of Japan and even selling overseas-developed games.

Izašao demo u Japanu. U novom Edge-u ekskluzivni izveštaj i intervju sa tvorcima. Nisam (više) sledbenik Skverovog hiper-realističnog CGI-ja i igre-kao-filmovi pristupa, ali izgleda motherf*ckingly incredible! Sekvenca od 30 minuta (prerenderovan CGI+realtime), koju je radilo 300 (slovima: tri stotine) ljudi!

FF XIII izlazi najverovatnije na Bozic 2009. u Japanu, ostatak sveta verovatno 6-12 meseci kasnije.

Sto se tice Versusa... na njega cemo dosta cekati.
